Background of Research Seminar:
Worldwide, the population is ageing rapidly, with accompanying increases in morbidity and mortality and costs of care. Telehealthcare, involving personalised health care over a distance, is seen as having the potential to improve care for the elderly. This seminar aims to examine the effectiveness of telehealthcare interventions in the elderly to improve clinical and process outcomes by the evaluation of evidence from randomised controlled trials, observational studies and systematic reviews. Studies comparing a telehealthcare intervention with a control intervention in elderly patients will be identified using the database Pubmed. The main outcomes of interest are quality of life, hospitalisation, death, costs and cost effectiveness.
